Research & Extension Forum held in WPU Puerto Princesa Campus

The Department of Research headed by Dr. Allaine T. Baaco and the Department of Extension Services headed by Dr. Eulenia Pizaña organized the annual Research and Extension Forum on March 15, 2019 at Manuel T. Bacosa Theater in WPU Puerto Princesa Campus. Dr. Agathe Debruille, Veterinarian and Scientific Officer of ABConservation, delivered the plenary talk, "Tree-top Camera-trapping in the Forest of Barangay Langogan."

The first keynote speaker, Dr. Iris Ivy M. Gauran, Assistant Professor IV of the School of Statistics at the University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City, talked about "Adventures in Computational Biology and Statistics." Dr. Gauran, a prolific researcher who has published her papers in international journals, is an alumna of WPU Elementary Laboratory School and WPU Agricultural Science High School. She obtained her PhD in Statistics from the University of Maryland in Baltimore County, USA.

The second keynote speaker was Dr. Christopher Marlowe A. Caipang, a DOST Balik Scientist. He talked on "Feeding the World and the Role of Aquaculture Biotechnology." Dr. Caipang, who holds a PhD in Aquatic Biosciences, is a highly-cited post-doctoral researcher from the Institute of Marine Research in Norway prior to his visit to the Philippines as Balik Scientist.

Seventy-seven non-competing and competing papers of students and professionals were presented during this year's Forum.
